Trust & Safety

This page is maintained by Bridge to answer common safety and trust questions about the marketplace. It is not a certification and does not replace your own due diligence.

Contractor self-attestation

Every contractor on Bridge must affirm, at onboarding and again whenever our legal terms change, that they meet all licensing and insurance requirements in their jurisdiction. We keep an audit log of every attestation and version.

Mutual approvals unlock messaging

A homeowner and a contractor can only exchange messages once both sides have expressed interest and approved each other. This prevents cold outreach, spam, and bidding wars.

Data & access controls

Contact details, addresses, and messages are stored on encrypted infrastructure with row-level authorization — only the parties to a match can read a thread. Admin actions on attestation records are logged.

What Bridge does not do

  • We do not independently confirm every license or insurance claim — always ask for proof before hiring.
  • We are not a party to the contract between you and the other side.
  • We do not guarantee work quality, price, or timeline.
  • We do not run background checks.

Safety tips before you hire

  • Ask the contractor for a copy of their current license and certificate of insurance, and verify with your state licensing board.
  • Get a written scope, price, and payment schedule before work begins.
  • Never wire money or pay 100% upfront.
  • Keep communications and quotes inside Bridge so there is a record.
